==Etymology==
The name ''Snoqualmie'' is derived from the Lushootseed name ''s•dukʷalbixʷ'', generally interpreted to mean "ferocious people", a name applied by another Coast Salishan tribe in reference to the Snoqualmie tribe.〔Hess, T.
